FAT HAM
by
JAMES IJAMES
Fat Ham, a Pulitzer Prize-winning tragicomedy by James Ijames, opens in April. The play reimagines William Shakespeare's Hamlet as a contemporary family drama set during a backyard barbecue in the American South. Juicy, a college student, is visited by the ghost of his father during the gathering. The ghost demands that Juicy avenge his murder by killing his uncle. Unlike the classic tragedy, Juicy rejects the cycle of violence and revenge, opting instead to seek his own freedom, joy and identity. Performances are April 9, 10, 16, 17, 23 and 24 at 7:30pm and April 18 and 25 at 2:30pm.
