GUIDELINES FOR COSTUME DONATIONS

We love costume donations at Commerce Street Theater, but our storage space is extremely limited! We ask that patrons who wish to donate items to our costume department reach out to us via email commercestreettheater@gmail.com before bringing items to the theater. If you have clothing or accessories you’d like to donate to the theater, please reference these handy guidelines before contacting the theater:

What we are currently NOT accepting:

  • modern women’s dresses (anything from the last 25 years)

  • pierced ear earrings

  • tshirts or long-sleeved T-shirts

  • sweatshirts

  • shorts

  • athletic wear

  • underclothing

  • children’s clothing

  • military clothing

  • clothing or shoes with rips, stains, peeling, fading or old elastic 

  • Halloween costumes

  • modern sleepwear/robes

  • lingerie

  • modern evening gowns

  • modern wedding dresses

  • modern style winter coats for men and women

  • knitted scarves or knitted winter hats

  • modern style sweaters 

What we ARE currently accepting: 

  • men’s suits 

  • men’s dress shirts 

  • men’s khaki pants

  • men’s dress pants

  • dress shoes for both men and women but especially men

  • period style clothing and shoes (Renaissance, Victorian, Edwardian, medieval, etc)

  • historical style clothing and shoes (Greek, Roman, togas, etc)

  • vintage style clothing and shoes (1900s-1980s)

  • petticoats and bloomers

  • corsets

  • vests

  • vintage styled sleepwear/robes for men and women

  • men’s hats - especially driving caps, fedoras, and vintage style (no ball caps) 

  • ladies’ slips (half and full slips)

  • extended sized dress clothes

  • watches (especially vintage men’s watches and pocket watches)

  • rings (wedding band or simple bands especially)

  • vintage women’s scarves and shawls

  • belts (men’s belts brown or black especially)
